2. Correct selection of the product

Read the markings on the label or on the product carefully.

Ensure that:

  • the superabrasive product is suitable for the application and has the correct dimensions.
  • check that the maximum revolutions per minute (rpm) of the machine spindle on which you will mount the superabrasive product never exceeds the maximum rpm printed on the label or on the product.

Follow any restriction of use and any specific instruction which may be indicated on the superabrasive product or on the attached documents.

3. Inspection and testing before use

3.1 Visual inspection

Carefully inspect the products. If they are damaged in any way, do not use them.

3.2 Mounting

  • Only mount the superabrasive product on machines designed for the operation.
  • The arrow indicating the direction of rotation must be identical on the product and on the machine.
  • Only mount the superabrasive product with its proper flanges.
  • Always use the mounting flanges supplied with the hand-held machine and ensure they are clean.
  • Flanges should never be modified.
  • Never use force for mounting.
  • The bore hole of the wheel must fit the machine spindle without play.
  • Work pieces shall be firmly secured before starting work.

3.3 Test-run

Never use damaged products. They must be discarded.

Before starting the test run check that the machine is equipped with suitable guarding which must be in the right position and locked. The test-run of the superabrasive product must be carried out under no-load conditions for about 30 seconds after each mounting.

3.4 Safety equipment

Ensure that the safety equipment compulsory for use with hand held power tools is correctly installed.

4. Instructions for use

  • Grind and cut only materials for which the superabrasive tool is suitable.
  • When cutting-off, keep the wheel straight in the cut. The blade must not be allowed to jam in the cut.
  • Do not use cutting-off machines for profile grinding.
  • Use hand-held cutting-off machines without force, the weight of the machine is sufficient.
  • Do not force the machine into the cut. Make a steady cut.
  • Ensure that the work piece is firmly held.
  • Do not use diamond saws for snagging.
  • Ensure that the superabrasive tool does not get too hot. If the tool overheats, remove the tool from the cut and allow to cool.
  • When using face wheels for rough grinding, the grinding wheel should be positioned towards the workpiece surface maintaining an angle of 5-10 degrees. In the case of finish grinding the tool face should be held parallel to the workpiece.
